This scheme proposes development of an equestrian facility in the Green Belt within the London Borough of Havering. The new stables, if approved, will replace the Orange Tree Stables located north of the application site on Orange Tree Hill.
The scheme incorporates the provision of 48 stables, an outdoor floodlit manège, a lunging area, two dwellings for on-site staff / managers, a barn, two smaller buildings to enable rug drying, hay soaking and a workshop area, associated parking, cycle storage and landscaping.
The application is currently being determined by the Council. Following several years of plannig and design work, we hope that the planners will consider the propsal favourably, despite being advertised in the local paper as being contrary to the development plan (being development in the green belt). We believe that the scheme is entirely appropriate for its Green Belt setting, providing a leisure use acknowledged by Havering Council as being appropriate in principle in the green belt, in accordance with national planning policy and guidance. Notwithstanding this, we have also provided very special circumstances that exist in support of the development.
